March 25th, 2015 ,
Julia Fox

Animal Hospital is excited to welcome our newest Preceptor, Haroldo Toro.  Haroldo is a senior student at Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine.  Students from Auburn spend the last 8 weeks of their senior year working in veterinary clinics prior to graduating and we are thrilled that Haroldo chose to spend that time with us.

Haroldo was born in Chile and moved to Auburn, Alabama in 2002;  both his parents are veterinarians and teach at the University.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from Auburn University prior to starting Veterinary School.  After graduation Haroldo plans to move to Boston, Massachusetts and will be working with small animals.  We hope you enjoy meeting him and helping him with his learning experience as much as we enjoy having him here!

AAHA Accreditation

January 15th, 2015 ,
Julia Fox

We are excited to announce that we have earned AAHA Accreditation!   Accreditation through the American Animal Hospital Association helps veterinary practices operate at the highest standards of excellence in pet care.  Veterinarians and pet owners know pets at AAHA-accredited practices receive the highest quality care from well-trained, professional veterinary teams.  We chose to work for accreditation as we felt it has many important benefits:

1.  As the only organization that accredits veterinary practices in the U.S. and Canada, the American Animal Hospital Association sets the highest standard of pet care.

2.  Veterinary practices that accept the challenge of accreditation are evaluated on 900 quality standards that encompass all aspects of pet care – ranging from patient care and pain management, to team training and medical record keeping.

3.  AAHA Standards are continuously updated to keep accredited practices at the forefront of veterinary medicine.

4.  Pet owners gain peace of mind because they know their AAHA-accredited practice team is one they can trust to provide the very best care for their beloved pets.

We hope you will join us in celebrating our achievement and enjoy the benefits!

Have you seen our changes?

September 24th, 2014 ,
Julia Fox

If you haven’t been to the clinic recently, you may be surprised when you walk in the door!  We have made several changes to our waiting room to help us better serve our clients, to help with traffic flow in and out and give our feline patients a quieter waiting area.  The front desk received a face lift when it was opened in three directions to give more space to check in and out.  We have also added a half wall to make a feline waiting area; our goal in the near future is to be considered a “Feline Friendly Practice” and this is a step in that direction.  Hopefully you will enjoy the changes we’ve made and keep a lookout for more in the near future!

July Monthly Special

July 17th, 2014 ,
Julia Fox

The heat of summer is here and we’re focusing this month on parasite awareness.  There are a number of parasites that can affect our dogs and cats, from heartworms to intestinal parasites to skin and ear mites.  Knowing the life cycles of these parasites helps you understand how they spread and the best ways to control them.  For example, heartworms are carried by mosquitoes where tapeworms are carried by fleas.  We recommend all dogs and cats be on a monthly heartworm preventative and there are several choices that can help with flea control and intestinal parasite control.  Hookworms and Roundworms, intestinal parasites of dogs and cats, can cause skin and eye infections in children so it is very important to keep a close eye on our pets and prevent these parasites if possible.  Print this page and bring it to the clinic for a $10 Fecal Examination to look for intestinal parasites in your pet.  (Coupon is valid with a current Annual Physical Exam or at the time of the Annual Physical Exam)
